FG, Real Estate Firm Partner to Empower 4,000 FCT Farmers in “Operation Feed the Nation”

Abuja, Nigeria – In a collaborative effort aimed at bolstering President Bola Tinubu’s agenda for national food self-sufficiency, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has joined forces with Wardiere Oakmount Development, a real estate firm, to launch an initiative designed to empower 4,000 farmers within the Federal Capital Territory.

The scheme, aptly named “Operation Feed the Nation,” will see the partnership provide both small land plots and larger farmlands in the Kuje area of Abuja to the registered farmers. This allocation will enable them to cultivate a diverse range of crops, including cashew, cocoa, maize, Malaysian palm trees, rice, millet, yam, and beans, among others.

According to a statement personally signed by the Chairman of Wardiere Oakmount, Kunle Ilori, and made available to the press, this joint venture is a direct response to the partners’ shared commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s capacity to feed itself without reliance on external sources, aligning with the current administration’s national priorities.

Mr. Ilori stated that this initiative forms a crucial part of the company’s broader efforts to actively support the “Renewed Hope” agenda of the present administration and to empower vulnerable Nigerian farmers across the country. He further articulated the company’s aspiration to positively impact the lives of 25,000 individuals within various low-income groups, emphasizing that this farmers’ support program represents the first in a series of planned community empowerment initiatives.

“My joy knows no bounds with the commencement of this initiative, facilitated by the forward-looking government of President Bola Tinubu, to create an enabling environment and land access for farmers to cultivate and contribute directly to the government’s determined efforts to ensure Nigeria achieves self-sufficiency in food production,” Mr. Ilori affirmed.

He elaborated on the inspiration behind the company’s involvement: “Just as the spirit of contributing to the lives of the needy in Nigeria has been ministering to me since last year, we felt compelled to find an effective way to do so. While the government is diligently working to make Nigeria great again, individuals and organizations must also contribute in every way possible, as Wardiere Oakmount is now doing.”

The Chairman also expressed his appreciation for the President’s dynamic approach to addressing national issues, highlighting his “fearless attitude” as essential for the country’s earnest growth and development.

In a related vein, Mr. Ilori drew the government’s attention to the recent large-scale CBEX scam, emphasizing the urgent need for increased public awareness to prevent the resurgence of such Ponzi schemes in the country. He urged the National Orientation Agency to intensify its efforts in educating Nigerians on the critical factors to consider before investing their money in any business venture.

“Mr. President, I must commend your fearlessness and resolute determination to resolve the numerous issues confronting Nigerians,” Mr. Ilori stated. “It has also come to my attention that a significant fortune was recently lost to a large-scale scam known as CBEX.”

“While I extend my deepest sympathies to the victims of this unfortunate incident, I also believe it underscores the critical need for the National Orientation Agency to significantly enhance its public awareness campaigns, guiding citizens on prudent investment practices and identifying potential red flags before committing their funds,” he added.

Finally, Mr. Ilori called upon young Nigerians to consider investing in the real estate sector, stating, “That is the only business I know where you can potentially achieve a 100 per cent return on investment.”
