FMARD, FUNAAB, NASS TRAIN YOUTHS AND WOMEN
In order to encourage more youths
and women participation in Agriculture, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and
Rural Development (FMARD) and Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta
(FUNAAB), in collaboration with the House Committee on Agricultural Production
and Services have trained youths and women on agricultural value-chain.
Speaking at the Flag-off of the training, the Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB,
Professor Kolawole Salako represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor
(Development), Professor Lateef Sanni implored the youths to engage more in
agriculture because it will strengthen the socio-economic terrain of the
country. He said the essence of the training, conducted by BOAYOL International
Company Limited is to encourage youths and women not to be intimidated by
farming because they can make money from agriculture even without owning a
farm.
According to Sanni, youths and women can do this by being service providers to
farmers, such as spraying the farm with herbicides and providing other
essential labour needed on the farm.
Earlier, while welcoming participants, the Managing Director, BOAYOL International
Company Limited, Omoleye Olabode, represented by Barrister Ayodele Olaniyi
charged the farmers to make good use of the knowledge acquired during the
training.
Certificates and incentives were given to participants at the end of the
training to motivate them. Speaking on behalf of other participants, Head of
Farmers from Imala, Abeokuta North Local Government Area, Mr. Samson
Adegoke, appreciated FMARD, FUNAAB, House Committee on Agricultural
Production and Services and BOAYOL International Company Limited for bringing
them together which according to him has widened their horizon in various
fields of agriculture.
