Tension as Swarm Birds, Locusts Invade Farms in Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara States

Swarm birds and locusts have invaded farms in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States, destroying farm produce, the Federal Government has confirmed. Specifically, the Chief Veterinary Officer of the Federation, Dr. Maimuna Habibu disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen. According to the statement, Zamfara and Kebbi states were most affected by the locust invasion. The statement read in part, “Farmers in the affected states have on several occasions complained of destruction of their farm produce by locusts. “The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) has already deployed officers to begin aerial attacks against the locusts in the affected states,” it added.
