FARMERS, MERCHANTS RECEIVE NEPC TRAINING ON BEANS EXPORTATION

In an attempt to boost the acceptance of Nigeria’s beans by European countries, the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has trained dried beans farmers and merchants in the North Eastern region on export rudiments.

Deputy Director of Product Development, NEPC, Mr.  Samuel Oyeyipo, made the disclosure in Gombe during a workshop organized for farmers and merchants of dried beans.

According to Oyeyipo, the workshop was targeted at guiding the participants to meet the European Union markets’ requirements, adding that it is part of the council’s efforts to reduce the rate of rejection of beans and other agricultural produce exported to Europe and other parts of the world.

“Nigeria’s agricultural produce exports have been encountering challenges of rejection in the international markets primarily due to non-adherence to sanitary measures poor packaging, labelling and insufficient information on nutritional content,” the deputy director said.
